Get to Know

Hello!

My name is Sarah Malvar as you know I am a dancer. I grew up in Tacoma, WA and started dancing at the age of 18. I was introduced to dance at Tacoma School of the Arts, the high school I attended. Intrigued by dance, I wanted to study it more, so I started my training at a local ballet studio, Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma.

I fell in love with dance quickly and knew this was something I was meant to do. From there I moved across the country to West Palm Beach, FL to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University where I received a Bachelors in Dance. While in school I joined a local dance company, Dancing Waters. This company was lead by two amazing women who focused on community outreach and non-traditional partnering. After graduation I stayed in West Palm to continue my training with the company.

2020, a big year in many ways was the year I moved to New York to train in the Jose Limon pre professional program. Here I was introduced to repertoire from the company and given opportunities to create movement of my own. As we all know 2020 was the year the world changed. I moved back home and later decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams making dance my career.
